Questions people actually ask
How do I even get my messages off my iPhone?
There's no "export" button in iOS — Apple doesn't make this easy, which is why this tool exists. Three realistic paths: (1) a Mac signed into your Apple ID with Messages synced stores everything in one file we can read, photos included; (2) any computer — plug in your iPhone, make an encrypted backup, and we read the conversation and photos straight out of it (Mac or Windows); (3) no computer at all? Select messages on your iPhone, copy, and paste them as text — works for everyone, though photos come across as markers only. The export guide has step-by-step instructions for all three.
Do you see my messages?
No — and not in a "trust us" way. The parsing and PDF generation happen inside your browser tab. There is no upload. The only network traffic is loading the site itself and the Stripe payment page.
Will photos be in the book?
Yes for the Mac (chat.db) path — you can include your Attachments folder and photos appear inline. The copy-paste path is text-only: the book marks where photos were, but can't include them. We say this up front so nobody's surprised.
How long a conversation can it handle?
Years. Long conversations get a table of contents broken down by month. Everything runs locally, so very large chats (tens of thousands of messages) depend on your device's memory — a normal laptop handles them fine.
Can I preview before paying?
Yes. You see the formatted conversation in the browser immediately, and you can download a watermarked PDF preview of the first pages for free. Pay only if you love it.
Can I print it as a real bound book?
The PDF is standard US Letter and works with home printers, copy shops, and print-on-demand services (Lulu, Blurb, and similar). For gift books, a copy shop spiral or hardcover binding of the PDF looks wonderful.
What about Android / WhatsApp?
This tool is built specifically for iMessage. WhatsApp already has export tools and services built around its official "Export chat" feature.
